Amid the closing weeks of the trimester, as classrooms, discussions, and creative projects converge, the term also features heartfelt farewells for graduating cohorts, including the first BBA 2023–26 cohort and the MBA 2024–26 cohort. As the term moves into its final stretch, faculty-led talks, initiatives, and events carry forward the energy of the weeks ahead, blending celebration, inquiry, and engagement.

 
 
 
 
 

Awards & Recognitions, Talks, Publications & Workshops

 

Professor Anil Srinivasan, Visiting Professor of Practice, Literature and the Arts, School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS), was conferred the prestigious RCME Dronacharya Award for Teaching and Mentoring, in October 2025. More recently Professor Anil was the keynote speaker at ThinkEdu 2026 by The New Indian Express. He headlined the discussion titled  ‘AI in Arts: Why Humanity Will Survive’.

Dr Shyam Kumar Sudhakar, Associate Professor, Biological Sciences, SIAS, delivered a talk titled 'Graph-based and Machine Learning Approaches to Understanding Brain Health and Function' as part of the Synapse neuroscience conference on 6-7 March 2026 at IISER Tirupati. Undergraduate students from Krea—Nidhi, Zoeya, and Kailash—also presented their ideas during the ideathon held alongside the conference.

 

Dr Anannya Dasgupta, Director, Centre for Writing & Pedagogy (Krea-CWP) and Associate Professor, Literature, SIAS, and Dr Anakshi Pal, Visiting Assistant Professor, Krea-CWP, conducted a Faculty Development Workshop titled ‘The Body and Soul of Research Writing’ at the Madras Christian College, Chennai, on 11 March 2026.

 

Dr Chirag Dhara, Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies, SIAS, authored an article titled For India, war in West Asia and extreme summer temperatures could trigger a double inflation shock published in The Indian Express.

Dr C P Anil Kumar, Associate Professor, Mathematics, SIAS, has been selected to train Indian students for the International Mathematical Competition for University Students 2026, to be held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, from 27 July-3 August 2026. The students being trained were selected from among those who excelled in the Madhava Mathematics Competition.

Lakshmi Bal Mahotsav

Team Samarthan, the social service committee of IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB), organised Lakshmi Bal Mahotsav (LBM) on 9 March 2026, welcoming children from an orphanage to campus for a day filled with fun, creativity, and interaction. The event featured performances by student clubs, outdoor games, drawing activities, a cartoon movie screening, and a puppet show. Through music, dance, and engaging games, the day created joyful moments and meaningful interactions between students and the visiting children, making it a heartwarming and memorable celebration for everyone involved.

Krea Philosophy Talk

As part of the Krea Philosophy Talk titled ‘Can We Still Trust the News? Media Ethics, Truth, and Responsibility in Contemporary Journalism’, Professor Mukund Padmanabhan, Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, SIAS and former Editor, The Hindu, was in conversation with Dr Shriddha Shah, Assistant Professor, Philosophy, SIAS, on 10 March 2026.

 

DWDG Future Leaders Program – Module 2

Do Well Do Good (DWDG), a leadership initiative at IFMR GSB, successfully conducted Module 2 of the DWDG Future Leaders Program on 11 March 2026, marking a key transition for participants from conceptual learning to structured execution. Six teams of six students each developed strategic presentations addressing pressing sustainability challenges. Drawing on research and data-driven insights, the teams translated complex issues into practical business strategies across four focus areas—Climate, Energy, Mobility, and Circular Economy. The presentations were evaluated by Professor Lakshmi Kumar, Dean, IFMR GSB, whose feedback offered valuable perspectives on the feasibility and potential impact of the proposed solutions.

Krea-CWP Hosts SNU Chennai Writing Teachers

On 12 March 2026, Krea-CWP hosted writing teachers from the Writing Programme at the Shiv Nadar University (SNU), Chennai School of Law for a day of engaging sessions on reading and writing pedagogy, fostering cross-institutional exchange.
