A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
We will soon enter the last quarter of 2024, a time to celebrate our achievements in the year that passed by, while we also reflect on the challenges and promises with optimism. Each reflection takes us back to our genesis, to our mission, that binds us together as a collective. As we engage with the world beyond each day, may it be through ideas, action or discourses, we do so with resolve, holding up the Krea ethos with integrity, humility and empathy. In this volatile world plagued with uncertainties and ambiguities, we know we are not in this journey alone, we know we are together and stronger together.
Admissions will soon open for the 2025 intake across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at both SIAS (School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences) and IFMR GSB (Graduate School of Business) at Krea University. We look forward to recruiting another bright cohort of young trailblazers who will be a catalyst of change, who will lend a hand, speak up and right the wrongs.
This week, like all other, the campus was abuzz with sessions across disciplines, hearty achievements by students and various engagements that continue to push us to learn, unlearn and relearn. We are humbled to be in the presence of some of the brightest minds from across the globe and pride ourselves in being a community of determined, hard-working, intelligent and empathetic learners and do-ers, with a zeal to contribute to society and humankind. Krea, this Week is an ode to our community, to us. Scroll through this edition to see yet another week of spectacular moments speckling the horizon at Kreaverse.

In some other news, Professor Chandrasekaran N has penned an article on the crucial role of Independent Directors in navigating strategy, risk, and investor relations, for Director Today magazine from the Institute of Directors (IOD), India. This article reiterates the points he presented in the talk he delivered during the IOD National Convention on 'The Board' on 27 April, 2024, at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai.

IDs (Independent Directors) are on the board because of their expertise in the following areas: finance, marketing, technology, operations, and supply chain strategy, as well as their ability to read and interpret the company's financial report. Further, they are expected to have a few other proficiencies, like an overall understanding of the statutory requirements and the ability to bring perspectives overlooked by the promoters and executive directors. IDs should express the same during board meetings without fear or bias and demonstrate exceptional skills for gathering intelligence on business operations and nuances for being effective on the board.
