A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
It is summer break at Krea University, but is it really? The wheel of learning, exploring and decoding narratives is constantly in motion here. We continue to be a conduit for knowledge, ideas, and innovation, across diverse age groups. As we dispatch this edition, a summer school for students from grades 9 to 12 and a Math camp for gifted Math students from ages 9 to 13 are underway at the Krea University campus, both distinct from each other. Right on the heels, we will be hosting a week-long intensive workshop on the Cognitive Sciences, 'Mind, Brains, and Machines', bringing together insights from Linguistics, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Computational Theory exploring key questions on cognition — ranging from language processing to neural computation.
These initiatives are much more than a tick box for us. They bolster our mission in re-imagining learning in ways beyond university education and bring novel experiences to our faculty members, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders. It would be right to say there is always something new happening at Krea, alongside the routine, something inventive, creative and futuristic; shaping generations to face any challenge with intelligence, empathy and grit. As always, if you have stories or news to share with the Krea community, we invite you to connect with us at all.commsteam@krea.edu.in

Professor Sumantra Bose, Professor, International and Comparative Politics, SIAS, recently shared his insights into the shifting geopolitical dynamics between India and Pakistan. On 25 April 2025, Professor Bose appeared on Inside Story on Al Jazeera, where he discussed the escalating tensions following the tragic Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. In a follow-up article titled ‘Burst balloon’: How Pahalgam attack shattered Modi’s Kashmir narrative, Professor Bose critically examined how the attack has disrupted the Indian government’s long-standing narrative of stability and normalcy in Kashmir, exposing key flaws in its approach. Most recently, on 1 May 2025, he featured on The Briefing Room on BBC Sounds in an episode titled ‘Are India and Pakistan on the brink of war over Kashmir?’, offering expert commentary on the historical and current dimensions of the conflict. The same day, The New York Times cited Professor Bose among key experts in a detailed report on the Pahalgam attack and its aftermath, titled India Blames Pakistan After Kashmir Attack Kills 25 Tourists.
