A Roundup of the Kreaverse

As a new trimester approaches, renewed academic momentum builds across Krea. Faculty have contributed through international conference presentations and new publications spanning Finance, Psychology, Environmental Studies, and Literature. Alumni achievements, including selection to the GLO VirtYS programme, reflect Krea’s growing global research reach. On campus, Wellbeing Week and career talks fostered holistic learning and engagement. Interdisciplinary collaborations through academic seminars and upcoming talks continue to strengthen connections across disciplines, keeping the campus network active, reflective, and forward-looking.

 
 
 
 

Alumni Spotlight

Dr Narbadeshwar Mishra, IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB) PhD alum, has been selected as a GLO Affiliate under the 2025–26 Global Labor Organization (GLO) Virtual Young Scholars Programme (GLO VirtYs). Through this 10-month international research and mentoring initiative, Dr Mishra will have opportunities to engage with leading researchers working on topics at the intersection of labour, development, and public policy worldwide.

Book Chapter

Professor Jayaram Ramakrishnan, Professor of Practice, Finance, IFMR GSB, has authored a chapter titled A Three-Pronged Strategy for Production Cost Optimisation in MSMEs & Role of CMAs, in the special publication Role of CMAs in Viksit Bharat 2047, published by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI). The book was launched by the Honourable Governor of West Bengal Dr CV Ananda Bose at Governor’s House, Kolkata on 17 October 2025.

 

Scientific Papers

Dr Chirag Dhara, Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies, School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS), has co-authored two scientific papers. The first, titled Future Intensification of Northern Hemisphere Monsoons Due to Declining Remote Aerosol Pollution, was published in Environmental Research Letters. Read More

 

The second, titled Interpreting Climate Performance Indices: Implications for Equitable and Effective Policy, which includes among its co-authors Ishita Bagri, an SIAS Alum, was published in Climate Policy. Read More

 

Poetry

A haibun titled When it is all good by Dr Anannya Dasgupta, Director, Centre for Writing and Pedagogy (Krea-CWP) and Associate Professor, Literature, SIAS, has been published in the October 2025 issue of Cattails Journal.

Finance Conference

Dr Vijaya C, Assistant Professor, Finance, IFMR GSB, has presented a research paper titled 'Enhancing Liquidity in Commodity Derivatives', co-authored with Rahul Kumar, MBA Cohort of 2024-26 IFMR GSB, at the 53rd Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) Conference hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universidad Complutense, Madrid, held from 16-18 October 2025.

 
 

Psychology Conference

Dr Suryodaya Sharma, Assistant Professor, Psychology, SIAS, is presenting a paper titled ‘Caste Prejudice and Persisting Inequality in India: Role of Social Identity and Belief Systems’ at the 53rd Annual Conference on South Asia at University of Wisconsin, Madison, being held from 22-25 October 2025. This paper is part of a panel 'Critical Perspectives on Structural Inequality: Explorations in Psychology of Caste', in the conference.

Organised by the Office of Inclusive Learning Support (ILS), the week-long Wellbeing Week 2025, held from 9 - 17 October 2025, marked World Mental Health Day with yoga, music, talks, and workshops — fostering reflection, inclusion, and a shared commitment to holistic wellness across campus. Career Talk

The Career Services Office (CSO), in collaboration with Pari Washington — a Chennai-based boutique investment firm — organised a career talk on 16 October 2025. Two SIAS alumni, now part of the firm, returned to campus to share insights into the world of investment and finance through an engaging session that concluded with an interactive Q&A.

 
 

Krea Mathematics Talk

Dr Rajeeva Karandikar, Professor Emeritus, Chennai Mathematical Institute, delivered a talk on 'Mathematics and Society,' held on 23 October 2025.

 

Krea Computer Science Talk

Dr Viraj Kumar, Visiting Professor, Kotak-IISc AI-ML Centre, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, delivered a talk titled 'Can Generative AI bridge the chasms between disciplines?' held on 23 October 2025.

Chennai Combinatorics Colloquium

As part of the Chennai Combinatorics Colloquium, Krea University, along with IIT Madras, IMSc Chennai, CMI Chennai, and ISI Chennai, hosts monthly talks. The latest session was held on 24 October 2025, at ECG Sudarshan Hall, IMSc Chennai.
