A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
We are slowly stepping into the twilight of the year – the season of festivities and the accompanying frenzy, the calm and quiet that follow, year-end gratitude and promises of new beginnings. As an institution, we are constantly re-assessing the ways we are creating the future in collaboration with each new generation of leaders.
The VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world requires redefining and re-imagining ways of knowledge delivery. The status quo between the job market and the learning systems are undergoing a seismic shift, each day different from the next. The concept of jobs for life no longer exists and half-life of skills are shrinking. The education landscape is ripe for innovation and it is no longer about keeping up with the pace of the world but staying one step ahead.
At Krea, learning is considered a fulfilling, life-long journey, where the path is flexible and non-linear, and we look ahead, adapting and evolving each step of the way. We are building a future together where every individual’s value is appreciated. Alongside the continuum of learning, we also embrace resilience, optimism, empathy and kindness that come with knowledge, sentiments that enthuse us within the Kreaverse. This week’s edition like all others is an attempt to showcase these efforts.
As always we want to reiterate that Krea, this Week, is an ode to the collective ethos of Krea. We look forward to your feedback, contribution and anything else you may wish to share with us, each piece helps us build the Krea story together. For real-time updates, please do follow us on our social media channels. If you have stories or news to share with the Krea community, we invite you to connect with us at all.commsteam@krea.edu.in

A semi-academic essay authored by Sayantan Datta, Assistant Professor of Practice, Krea-CWP (Centre for Writing and Pedagogy) has been published in Sangamithra magazine (issue 10), published by Good As You Bangalore. It’s titled Marriage Equality in India: Queer Intimacies, Heteropatriarchal Institutions, & the Language of Rights.
In the essay, they briefly historicise queer mobilisation in India to show how, contrary to popular belief, marriage fails to emerge as an important concern for a substantial duration of the queer and trans-rights movements in India. When marriage finally does emerge as an important point for discussion, it is articulated through the language of ‘rights’. In recounting this history, they demonstrate the limited capacity of this language, and propose that we find a different and complementary register to speak about same-sex marriages in India.

These very qualities combined with sheer hard work led her to her summer internship stint at BNY Mellon. Akshatha states that what fascinates her most about an MBA is that it permeates all forms of lives and livelihood, including her roots in agriculture and the opportunity to pack one’s undergraduate interests with an acumen in management. Akshatha is one among the few at IFMR GSB who are excelling in their MBA, evolving into extraordinary managers and yet come with distinct backgrounds in the undergrad.
