There’s never a lull at Krea University. Just when you think things might slow down, the action picks up. With Convocation 2024 barely a week away, the campus is buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The entire Krea family has come together, putting in their best efforts to ensure this milestone event is a grand success.
But that’s not all. Following hot on the heels of Convocation is Prarambh, the orientation week at IFMR GSB (Graduate School of Business) for our incoming MBA students and the orientation week for 5 Year Integrated BBA + MBA students. The planning is in full swing, as we prepare to welcome the new cohort. Our social media channels have been abuzz with updates, showcasing the meticulous preparations and the enthusiasm of everyone involved.

Krea University's Convocation ceremony is a cherished milestone in our journey as an institution and this year we are privileged to have Dr K VijayRaghavan, former Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India as the Chief Guest.
Dr Krishnaswamy VijayRaghavan is currently Professor Emeritus and Homi Bhabha Chair at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). Recipient of the Padma Shri, Dr VijayRaghavan is also a fellow of the Royal Society, a foreign member of the US National Academy of Sciences, and a member of the American Philosophical Society.

We are honoured to announce that Krea University’s Convocation will also witness the conferral of the Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa (L.H.D.), upon Professor David Schulman, Renee Lang Professor of Humanistic Studies in the Department of Comparative Religion at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

We are honoured to announce that Krea University’s Convocation will also witness the conferral of the Doctor of Letters, honoris causa (DLitt), upon Dr Rukmini Banerji, CEO of the Pratham Education Foundation.

Sayantan Datta, Assistant Professor of Practice, Krea-CWP (Centre for Writing and Pedagogy), has been appointed as a candidate working editor and a member of the editorial board at the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics (IJME). The IJME is a multidisciplinary open-access journal publishing high-quality articles in medical ethics, bioethics, and the humanities. In joining the journal's masthead, Datta intends to participate in all aspects of the journal's functioning and add to the journal's historical contributions in the fields of health and healthcare in India.

Sayantan Datta has also been appointed as a jury member for the 2024 Rainbow Journalism Awards. Sayantan will join author and filmmaker Sindhu Rajasekharan to judge entries in the op-ed category.
The Rainbow Journalism Awards intend to recognise work by journalists that tell authentic and complex stories of queer, transgender, and intersex lives in India. Applications for the award are open until July 18, and the link to apply is here

An op-ed by Dr Sambaiah Gundimeda, Associate Professor of Politics, SIAS (School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences), Krea University, was published in The Hindustan Times on 7 June, 2024. Titled The Naidu vs Jagan potboiler in Andhra, the article delves into the factors behind the significant defeat of the ruling YSR Congress Party and the resounding triumph of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

IFMR GSB, Krea University’s flagship Research Symposium on Finance and Economics (RSFE) 2024 was held from 12 - 14 June, 2024. Researchers, academicians, and practitioners from across the globe gathered to discuss, deliberate, and delve deeper into research and industry trends, discovering multiple perspectives on critical narratives in the field of Finance and Economics. The event witnessed participation from 15+ countries, with 100+ research papers presented by academics from 50+ prestigious institutions, unraveling critical discourses pivotal to the contemporary world.

The Admissions Team at SIAS, Krea University concluded its final round of retention coffee chats in the country's northern zone. Around 50 incoming students and parents attended the two-day event held in New Delhi NCR and Gurgaon. Professor Bishnu Mohapatra, Director of the Moturi Satyanarayana Centre for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Krea University welcomed the gathering in New Delhi alongside some Krea students at the India International Centre. The team will conclude its retention activity with Bangalore, and Hyderabad Coffee meet-ups on 16 and 22 June, 2024 respectively.

Decoding Interwoven Learning
|

Pranav Harikrishnan, from the Cohort of 2025, perceives Interwoven Learning at Krea University in varied dimensions. Drawing from his engagement with a major in Economics and a minor in Data Science, he aspires to transfer skills gleaned from one domain to another.
|
|
|
Pranav advocates that Interwoven Learning offers a platform to explore diverse fields of work without limiting oneself to just one. His encounters with various stakeholders at Krea and exposure to multiple perspectives have been instrumental in honing his thought process.
