As another eventful month draws to a close, the pace only seems to quicken. Even amidst the summer break, there's no slowing down at Krea. The Convocation ceremony is on the horizon, and the admissions cycle is in its final leg. Hot on the heels of the successful April edition, the June batch of Krea Summer School is ready to kick off.
Meanwhile, students are landing impressive placements and internships, setting remarkable examples for their juniors and shaping their future paths. In what feels like the blink of an eye, as we bid farewell to the graduating class, a new cohort of dreamers and doers stands poised to join us.
Behind the scenes, the Krea community — our dedicated faculty and staff — has been working tirelessly to ensure that every transition is seamless. And as always, we’ll continue to go above and beyond to make it all happen.

We are starting the countdown to the most anticipated event of the year - Convocation 2025. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, 14 June 2025 at The Music Academy, Chennai. The graduating cohorts include, the UG Cohort of School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) (2025), the 2-year MBA Cohort of IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB) (2025), the 3-year L&T MBA Cohort of IFMR GSB (2025) and the PhD Cohort of IFMR GSB (2025).
This year we are privileged to have Professor Ram Ramaswamy, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad and Honorary Professor, Department of Physics, IIT Delhi, as the Chief Guest at the ceremony. Convocation 2025 will also witness the conferral of the Doctor of Science, honoris causa (D.Sc.), upon Dr Vivek Borkar, Emeritus Fellow, IIT Bombay, and the Doctor of Letters, honoris causa (D.Litt.), upon Dr Geetanjali Shree, author and novelist.

Webinars on Majors at Krea University
|
|
|
As part of the ongoing Webinars on Majors series, a session on Psychology as a Major was held on 26 May 2025. Speakers included Dr Sabah Siddiqui, Dr Akanksha Adya, and Dr Madhavilatha Maganti from SIAS. The session helped SIAS UG applicants and parents gain clarity on course structure, outcomes, and opportunities in the field.
A second session on Computer Science as a Major was conducted on 29 May 2025, featuring Dr Srikumar Subramanian and Dr T V H Prathamesh. Both webinars were open to all UG applicants and aimed at guiding them towards well-informed academic choices by the outreach team.

Dr Lakshmi Narayanan, Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies, SIAS has co-authored an article titled Study of rotational temperatures with a multi-wavelength photometer from the Indian equatorial station Tirunelveli published in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics. This is a validation paper of an instrument the team developed at the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism. In this paper, the authors show that they could successfully measure temperatures from the upper mesosphere around 87 km. The results are validated through comparison with NASA’s SABER/TIMED satellite observations and other ground-based airglow imaging observations.

A research paper titled Intensity of Exploitation-Exploration Innovation Strategies and Credit Ratings, co-authored by Dr Praveen Bhagawan M — Associate Professor, Finance, Accounting and Quantitative Finance and Area Chair - Finance, Accounting and Quantitative Finance, IFMR GSB —- has been published in Economic Modelling journal ("A" category journal as per ABDC list with an Impact Factor = 4.2 & CiteScore= 8).

A research paper titled Bridging Climate Science, Policy, and Communities: Collaborative Pathways for Climate Resilience in the Indo-Pacific by Dr Chirag Dhara, Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies, SIAS, has been published in Frontiers in Climate. This study was performed under the aegis of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP)’s "My Climate Risk Lighthouse Activity” that aims to develop and mainstream a ‘bottom-up’ approach to regional climate risk.

We are thrilled to share that SIAS Alum Ritika Dubey, Cohort of 2024 has secured All India Rank 9 in the UPSC (CDS) Combined Defense Services Examination. Ritika will join the Officers Training Academy Chennai in October 2025 and will be commissioned as Lieutenant in the Indian Army by September 2026. Ritika graduated in 2024 with a BA Honours from Krea University.

Project Management Training Program
|

|
The HR team organised a Project Management Training Program at Krea University spanning four days: 28 April, 29 April, 2 May, and 5 May 2025. The sessions were conducted by Professor Srinivasan Kidambi, a renowned expert in the field of project management. The sessions were highly interactive and case studies were discussed. This initiative aims to enhance project management competencies and equip teams with the knowledge and tools needed to deliver successful project outcomes and support day to day operations.
