Professor Madhuri Saripalle, Professor, Economics & Chairperson – MBA Programme, IFMR GSB (Graduate School of Business), Krea University presented a paper on Analyzing Inter-State Price Volatility Across the Rice Supply Chain at the American Agricultural Economics Association’s annual meeting (AAEA) held in New Orleans, US, from 28 – 31 July, 2024. The AAEA meeting is a prestigious conference and attracts more than 1,000 agricultural and applied economists from around the world every year.

Dr Jyoti Prasad Mukhopadhyay, Associate Professor, Economics & Chair, PhD Programme, IFMR GSB, Krea University; Dr Sona Mitra, Principal Economist, IWWAGE; Dr Sayli Javadekar, independent researcher and Dr Narbadeshwar Mishra, Associate Professor, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) and an alumnus of the IFMR GSB PhD Programme, have co-authored a research paper titled Does Gender-Based Awareness Campaign Improve Girls' Educational and Learning Outcomes? Empirical Evidence from India, published in the Journal of Development Studies (JDS).
JDS is a highly regarded multidisciplinary journal in the area of development studies, categorised as “A" by the ABDC classification (Q1 as per Scopus, with an SJR (2023) of 1.03 and an Impact Factor (2023) = 2.9).

This study is the outcome of collaborative research with Dr Sona Mitra from the Institute for What Works to Advance Gender Equality (IWWAGE), an initiative of LEAD at Krea University. The research was funded by Krea University under Krea Faculty Research Fellowship 2020-21.

Dr Suresh Govindapuram, Assistant Professor of Economics, IFMR GSB, Krea University has completed an online course on the Fundamentals of Case Teaching by Harvard Business Publishing (HBS).
Case study pedagogy in Business Schools places students in real-world decision-making roles, enhancing analytical skills, critical thinking, creativity, and communication. Effective faculty approaches are crucial, and MBA/BBA students benefit from mastering management concepts through case studies for informed decision-making.

To foster a serene work environment, Krea University has designated the Quiet Zone — a dedicated space where you can work in peace, free from distractions. As a trial, the Quiet Zone will be available in M1 (New Academic Block) on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm for the next three weeks. This space is intended for faculty members and staff, offering a calm atmosphere where everyone can focus on their readings, projects, and other individual tasks without interruptions.

India@100: Envisioning Tomorrow’s Economic Powerhouse, authored by Professor K V Subramanian was launched earlier today on Sri City campus. The session threw light on the key ideas presented in the book, particularly the opportunities that beckon India and the reform agenda required to make the country a $55 Trillion economy by 2047. Through meticulous research and insightful analysis, the author, in his book, explores four key pillars to propel India’s growth: Macroeconomic emphasis on growth; Microeconomic focus on Social and Economic Inclusion; Vision of ethical wealth creation & Strategy of a virtuous cycle triggered by investment. The book explores once-in-several-centuries opportunity knocking on India’s doors.

The first Koffee GoSip session of this term titled Where Art Meets Science by Dr John Mathew, Associate Professor of History of Science, SIAS (School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences), Krea University was held on 7 August, 2024 at the faculty lounge.
Koffee GoSip events are designed as informal discussion sessions over coffee among faculty members from all disciplines of Krea. These gatherings provide an opportunity to learn about the intriguing ideas or challenges our colleagues are currently exploring, or to hear about topics they find particularly fascinating and wish to share with a broader audience. The aim is to foster the exchange of ideas across disciplines in a relaxed, informal setting.

We had the pleasure of reconnecting with Munirmahedi Paviwala, an alum from the Cohort of 2023, SIAS, Krea University. Munir was recently on campus for the SIAS Orientation 2024, where he participated in Life After Krea - a candid discussion - sharing his favourite moments on campus, his takeaways, and his aspirations for the future with the incoming cohort.
Munir is currently pursuing a PhD at Boston College, focusing on the economic and environmental history of South Asia from 1600 to 1900 AD.
