A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
As one chapter closes, another begins. It’s that time of the year when one batch bids farewell, stepping into new careers, higher studies and exciting internships, while another eagerly prepares to embark on their journey at Krea. Amidst heartfelt goodbyes and warm welcomes, the cycle of learning and growth continues.
The campus is abuzz with activity — farewell gatherings, preparations for incoming students and the excitement of Krea Summer School, which is set to welcome young talents. With workshops, internships and academic pursuits shaping the summer, we inch closer to convocation — a moment to celebrate achievements and ignite new aspirations.
In the ever-evolving rhythm of Kreaverse, each moment is worth embracing. So, as we navigate this transition, let’s celebrate every milestone, every achievement and every new beginning.
If you have stories or news to share with the Krea community, we invite you to connect with us at all.commsteam@krea.edu.in

An article co-authored by Nickhil Sharma, Visiting Faculty, SIAS, titled Intersectional analysis of visual generative AI: the case of stable diffusion has been published in AI & Society.
The article critically examines Stable Diffusion, a widely used open-source visual Generative AI tool, through an intersectional lens. It explores how AI-generated imagery can perpetuate existing social hierarchies — including sexism, racism, heteronormativity, and ableism — by defaulting to representations that are often white, able-bodied, and masculine-presenting. It also highlights the dominance of Euro- and North America-centric aesthetic norms within these outputs.

On 24 March 2025, Layam, Music Club, SIAS wrapped up the academic year with one final production that felt less like a performance and more like a heartfelt tribute to the music that has shaped Krea over the years.
The event brought together iconic music groups that have performed at Krea across different batches — groups that had once lit up our campus with their sound, now returning for one last time. For the graduating members, it was an emotional final bow — the last opportunity to share the stage with the people and the music that defined their university experience.

The students of Environmental Studies, SIAS organised an exhibition titled Histories of things immediately around us on 25 March 2025 at JSW Atrium. The exhibition drew from the students' semester-long engagement in ENVS216|HIST219. The showcase explored the idea that one's everyday sense of self is shaped by the presence of seemingly insignificant objects — an old shoe, a wilting basil leaf — embedded in daily life. By examining the neglect and abandonment of such everyday items, the exhibition invited viewers to reflect on their own roles as individuals capable of disregarding or discarding things. Through a systematic exploration of personal waste, familiar objects and spaces of daily use, the project aimed to uncover hidden aspects of human behaviour and environmental awareness.
