A Roundup of the Kreaverse
|
December carries its own spirit—while it closes a year, it opens space for new beginnings. Despite dark, rainy days, the campus spirit stayed bright. Academic energy continued with new research projects and faculty initiatives, while students contributed actively across classrooms and activities. Reflecting the campus’ commitment to inclusion, an Accessibility Awareness Booth was hosted for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, fostering awareness and engagement across the community. In the same spirit of growth and achievement, a significant recognition for academic leadership and excellence marked another milestone. Continued dedication across teaching, learning, and research fuels our dynamic academic journey, with promise yet to be realised.

On 28 November 2025, the Psychology Society hosted a panel on language in psychology, focusing on how psychological terms are often overused and simplified on social media. The panellists were Dr Akanksha Adya, Assistant Professor, Psychology, SIAS; Sayantan Datta, Assistant Professor of Practice, Centre for Writing and Pedagogy (Krea-CWP); Dr Geeti Das, Assistant Professor, Politics, SIAS, and Dr Shiv Issar, Assistant Professor, Sociology and Social Anthropology, SIAS. They discussed how alienation and loneliness can lead people to adopt labels that create a sense of community outside clinical contexts. The panel also examined how meanings shift over time, using “homosexual” as an example—drawing on Foucault and Ian Hacking. The session concluded with a reflection on who holds authority in defining terms, followed by a Q&A.
