About the Session
The process of teaching students to read and write involves breaking down complex cognitive skill acquisition into smaller doable steps. In this hands-on workshop faculty members will get to share their ideas and learn some techniques of drawing abstract ideas from specific textual examples. This will be an exercise to devise methods to help students read at the level of accurate comprehension and write at the level of meaning making that comes from understanding implications at the level of ideas. This is a reading and writing capability that is useful for all disciplines and all levels of teaching.
