A Round-up of the Kreaverse
Krea University continues to create spaces for ideas, discourses, engagement, and action, with a unifocal aim to construct the building blocks of learning through diverse perspectives. From advancing our research mission through pivotal contributions, curating talks and sessions that open up the minds of our students, instilling in them the true sense of the collective through student led bodies, pushing them to question the status quo – each scattered act at Krea is held together by the thread, an attempt to view the future in the now.
May it be the critical sessions anchored around World Suicide Prevention Day, the celebration surrounding the election of the new student government, the infectious enthusiasm setting the stage for TEDxKrea University, the camaraderie in full swing on campus at various events, festivals and club activities, each of them is permeable, interwoven with the other, breaking the chaos and everyday noise. As a resilient community, we are building a micro-world together, focused on going beyond a myopic worldview, into a future that’s brimming with possibilities. We know we are stronger, together. And with each scroll down this edition, you will see a September, speckled with promises, charting a bold course, making history, one story at a time.
For updates, follow us on our social media platforms. If you have stories or news to share with the Krea community, we invite you to connect with us at all.commsteam@krea.edu.in

Filter Coffee, Unfiltered Conversation
The latest session of Filter Coffee, Unfiltered Conversations revolved around the topic of Loneliness and Aloneness. This was conducted as part of the Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September, 2024. Dr Gowhar Fazili, Assistant Professor of Social Studies, Dr Neha Aggarwal, Assistant Visiting Faculty, and Dr Suryodaya Sharma, Assistant Professor of Psychology; faculty members from SIAS, Krea University were part of the discussion.
The free-flowing conversation explored the theme of understanding and navigating feelings of solitude while finding belonging amidst isolation. Here are some of the key takeaways from critical reflections.
- Through the process, more structured ways to deal with loneliness can be developed, recognising that it often stems from a disconnect with the world and environment around. Loneliness can arise from a lack of social connections or engagement with work and studies.
- The journey of self-reflection and meditation can be “messy”, but it can lead one to rediscover old passions like painting, music, and dance. These creative outlets help to cope with loneliness even though one may consider them as distractions initially.
- Often, we fantasise about ideal relationships or companionship, neglecting the value of the people already in our lives.
- Feeling lonely often stems from seeking validation from one specific person, leading to a sense of isolation even when others are eager to be around. One tends to place such high significance on certain individuals that their absence can make everything else in our lives seem meaningless. Sometimes, solace can come from unexpected sources, providing comfort when we least anticipate it.

The Art Exhibition : A Reflection
The Psychology Society of Krea organised organised an art exhibition on 11 September, 2024 in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day. This event aimed to foster open conversations about mental health using the transformative power of art. The exhibition showcased an array of powerful pieces created by the Krea community.
The artwork, which spanned various mediums, explored a wide range of themes, including hope, resilience, belonging, and solitude. Each piece told a unique story, allowing viewers to connect with the hidden emotional battles individuals face daily. The art was raw and authentic, bringing to light the silent struggles of mental health while offering messages of strength and recovery.
Alongside the visual art was a collection of poetry that delved into similar themes, offering heartfelt reflections on mental illness and healing. These poetic works added a deeply personal dimension to the exhibition, giving voice to emotions often left unspoken.
A particularly moving aspect of the exhibition was the interactive installations. Visitors were invited to engage with the exhibits in many ways, such as by sharing what they felt or an installation where they could pick up a card based on what they needed.
This ability to interact with the exhibition added a layer of support, reminding attendees that no one has to face their struggles alone. Through art, poetry, and interaction, the exhibition succeeded in both raising awareness about mental health and reducing the stigma surrounding suicide. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion and the strength found in vulnerability.
