A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
In a recent interview with ET Education, among the many insights offered by our Vice Chancellor Professor Nirmala Rao was a glimpse of diversity and inclusion initiatives at Krea and it is no coincidence that this week we have the opportunity to share that Krea University has been awarded for Academic Inclusion in IEEI (India Education Equality Index) 2024 and is the youngest institution among the awardees and the participants. These are moments of pride, excitement and humility but also of immense responsibility as we use these inspiring occasions of recognition to pave a broader and more focused path for our future — for our community and the world at large. Reinforcing our mission and a story we set out to write, a short while ago.
The growing turbulence around us demanded that higher education undergo a fundamental rethink. We started seeing existing patterns, codes and structures slowly disappearing. There was turbulence everywhere, across the economic, social, geopolitical, environmental, technological and educational landscapes. Five years ago we started painting a blank canvas with dreams and aspirations of building an education pathway that would re-imagine ways of learning, go beyond the interdisciplinary and innovate through the interwoven. And we have continued with enthusiasm, hopeful optimism and embedded the gazing into the future with hard lessons from our past approach.
Just like the festivities that light up the world at the end of the year, in this part of our world, we see the paths of our future lit with our capabilities in adapting to unpredictability and curating the best possible responses to challenges. We are looking up, and looking forward.

|
In a graceful fusion of tradition and artistry, OSL (Office of Student Life), in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth), presented a mesmerising Manipuri dance performance by the renowned artists Dr Sinam Basu Singh and Monika Devi. The event held on 22 October, 2024, on the Sri City campus, provided students and faculty alike with a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in one of India’s most graceful classical dance forms.
Manipuri dance, known for its fluidity and devotion, is rooted in the Vaishnavite traditions of northeastern India. It is celebrated for its gentle yet powerful expressions, slow but captivating hand movements, and exquisite storytelling through body language. Dr Sinam Basu Singh and Konjengbam Monika Devi are noted Manipuri dancers who hail from Manipur.

Dr Sinam Basu Singh is the first male dancer to receive Sangeet Natak Akademi Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Manipuri dance. The entire experience was quite enriching – from the beautiful dances, enchanting music and graceful explanations, it was a must attend event.
In breaks between the performances, which showcases a multitude of emotions, from love to devotion, to everything in between, the artists engaged in a conversation with the audience, sharing insights into the nuances of Manipuri dance. Their words offered students, faculty members and others an intimate understanding of the dance form's intricacies and significance.
As the evening drew to a close, the students left the venue not only inspired by the enchanting performance but also with a deeper appreciation for India’s classical arts.
